That means there are many opportunities open to us - and we have to be highly selective about those we choose to pursue. We've developed rigorous selection processes designed to help us balance the portfolio, maintain our focus on opportunities most likely to be successful and provide the best return to shareholders.
We're currently concentrating on selected opportunities in the UK, Europe, North America, the Middle East, India and Australia. A number of factors are driving these opportunities: public sector reform and pressure on governments to improve services while keeping taxes low.
Our aims aren't just to have a wide geographic presence but also a broad base of core skills and expertise. This strategy protects us against downturns in individual markets: we can balance maturity in one market with growth in another. And it means we can draw on a wide portfolio of management competencies and core skills that enable us to compete effectively for the most demanding contracts - wherever they are in the world.
