Job Deal
Job Deal aims to provide offenders with the support and skills they need to help them find work and live a stable, healthy, law-abiding life after the end of their sentence. It is funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), and managed by the National Offender Management Service (NOMS).
Job Deal is a voluntary service available for offenders aged over 16 years old serving a custodial sentence (with less than three years left to serve) or those completing a community sentence. As a "through-the-gate" service Job Deal continues to support offenders after they have been released from custody.
Serco delivers Job Deal through a unique network of experienced subcontractors from the public, private and third sectors who are specialists in helping ex-offenders into sustained employment. Our contracts support offenders in two regions:
- The East of England; and
- The South East.
Round 1 of our project started in 2010. Over two years, we engaged with 6,500 ex-offenders and we were rated joint first in the country. Serco successfully rebid both contracts to secure Round 2 to deliver Job Deal from January 2011 until December 2014. Over the life of this new contract Serco and our partners expect to support a further 16,000 offenders to move towards employment and a stable, law-abiding life.
