First anniversary of Dubai Metro

Serco Group plc (Serco), the international service company, is delighted to celebrate one year since it began operating the Dubai Metro on 09 September 2010. Since launch, over 30 million passengers have travelled on the driverless Metro service; a significant achievement for one of the world's most technologically advanced Metro systems.
The number of users of the Dubai Metro has soared since launching in 2009, jumping from 1.8 million passengers in October 2009 to 3.3 million in August this year. The average daily usage has recorded impressive figures, rising from 55,000 passengers in October to 116,000 in June. In 2010, a total of 40 million are expected to use the service.
Since September 2009, Serco has also successfully supported the incorporation of a further ten stations to the service, with 21 stations now in operation. Across the system, Serco is achieving very high performance levels with availability at 99% and punctuality at 98% in the three months to the end of August 2010. This level of performance mirrors the 98% punctuality levels of the Serco-operated Docklands Light Railway in London.
