Serco has been recognised for excellence and innovation by the National Outsourcing Association, winning this year's award for Innovation in Outsourcing.
The prize for excellence and innovation was awarded to Serco for its delivery and operation of Barclays Cycle Hire, London's newest mode of transport and recognises Serco as an industry leader in transport delivery and operation.
This award establishes the cycle hire scheme as a ground breaking initiative that has transformed transport in London. On average around 25,000 customers use Barclays Cycle Hire each day and the scheme now has over 140,000 registered customers, the scheme is also set to be extended into East and parts of West London prior to the Olympics next year.
Other Serco businesses that were shortlisted include the services we provide at Forth Valley hospital and The Listening Company that was nominated for two awards. Serco has previously won 'Outsourcing Professional of the Year' in 2010 for the work of 'Duncan Mackison' who ran the ACCESS project, which transformed property and IT services at Glasgow City Council.
Jeroen Weimar, Managing Director of Serco Transport, says: "The award for Innovation in Outsourcing demonstrates Serco's dedication to improving service and efficiency and is a well deserved recognition of the hard work of the collective team at Serco, to be the best in our field of work and, our partnership with Transport for London."
